06/06/2008 At Approx 1400hrs station 293 was dispatched to assist station 133 with a reported male lost in a wooded area. Reports stated that the male was having an asthma attack and that a friend went to get help, but the male was gone when the friend returned . A STATMedevac Helicopter assisted with an aerial search of the area. The male was later found by police in a local housing project. 293 O.I.C.- 293 Chief- D. Martin Responding Units- 293 Squad

06/01/2008 The Members of station 293 attended the annual Steel Valley Firefighters Association memorial service. Special Thanks to, FF Bogesdorfer who served as an axe carrier and FF Kaselonis who served as a flag carrier in the honor guard. _________________________________________________________________________________ 05/24/2008 The Members of Station 293 would like to send out Congratulations to the New Mr. & Mrs. Justin Brenning who were married this past saturday. (Hopefully she still lets him answer calls) 05/23/2008 Just before 0930 Station 293was dispatched to Shadynook St, in the first due for a reported possible structure fire. While the first alarm assignment was responding, crews were updated of possible entrappment. Crews arrived on scene and were met with heavy smoke and fire showing. 293C1 requestd that the second alarm be added to the assignment. Crews quickly located the victim who unfortunatly succumbed to her injuries. The fire was brought under control and Command released all the companies with the exception of 293 who remained on scene during the investigation. The cause of this fire is currently under investigation by The Allegheny County Fire Marshalls office.

02/08/2008 Just Before 0700 crews from station 293 were dispatched to assist station 133 on Oakmont Avenue, with the report of a working Structure fire. 133C2 arrived on scene and reported multiple story residential apartment building with a working fire on the first floor. At the beginning of the incident there was confirmed entrappment on the upper floors but all residents were rescued. Command- 133C-2 M.Bell 293 O.I.C.- 293C4 A. Hood __________________________ _________ 01/28/2008 - Around 1330, Station 293 was dispatched to assist Station 171 with a Automatic Fire Alarm Activation. Station 293 was notified that the sprinkler system was activated. 293 quint responded and was sent to side Delta of the building. Upon investigation 293 quint crew was notified that the alarm was setoff due to an error in the alarm system. 293 quint cleared the scene and returned in service. Officer in Command: 293 C-1 Dave Martin Responding Unit: 293 Quint __________________________________ _____________________________ 1/28/2008 - Around 1030, Station 293 was dispatched for a Public Service Detail at West Mifflin Area High School. Station 293 was notified that a water pipe broke and flooded the Shop Class, Bathrooms, and Music and Shop Hallway. Station 293 was assisted by Station 298, and 294 for man power for the clean-up. 293 Engine responded and found large amounts of water in the school. Station 293, 294, 298 provided the school with help cleaning up the water. After about 2 hours of clean-up all units cleared the scene. Officer in Command: 293 C-1 Dave Martin Responding Unit: 293 Engine ________________________ ___________________________________________ 1/25/2008 - Around 1530, Station 293 was dispatched for an unknown type of fire in the area of Homestead Duquesne Road and Commonwealth Ave. Prior to arrival, dispatched notified Station 293 that the fire was an open burn behind Cross Roads Service Station. 293 place Station 298 on stand-by in station until further investigation, and 293 Engine Responded. 293 Engine Arrived on scene and found a large brush fire inside a small valley. 293 Contacted the owner of the property and notified them to extinguish the fire. 293 Engine Cleared the scene.
